And if you are an amateur photographer - when it comes to taking photographs of special events like a wedding – there are quite a few points to keep in mind. 1.       Create a shot list

Check with the wedding couple as to what all photo shoots they require. Compile a list so that you can check each shot off. This is particularly helpful in family shots. There’s nothing worse than getting the photos back and realizing you didn’t photograph the happy couple with Grandma!

2.       Scout the location

Check out the location the previous day and list out the various spots that you can take picture at. You could event take few test shots with the couple if possible.

3.       Be prepared

Always have a backup plan, charge your batteries charged, additional memory cards, and have the complete itinerary of the full day so you know what’s happening next.

4.       Capture the small details

Take picture of the rings, backs of dresses, shoes, flowers, table settings, menus, etc. These help in giving the end album an additional dimension.

5.       Continuous shooting mode

Having the ability to shoot a lot of images fast is very handy on a wedding day, so switch your camera to its continuous shooting mode and use it. Sometimes it’s the shot you take a second after the formal or posed shot when everyone is relaxing that really captures the moment!

Finally, Weddings are about rejoicing. The more fun you as the photographer have, the more relaxed those you are photographing will be. Keep smiling – as that’s the best way to loosen people up.
